A special thank you goes to my trumpet teacher Pete Estabrook. It has been a rare privilege to study with such a consummate professional as Pete; I am often humbled by his devotion to the trumpet, and to music in general, and hope to emulate his dedication to the craft for years to come.

Thank you so much for transcribing Nick @ Night (by Nicholas Payton) and for helping me prepare music for my recital. You are a very inspiring musician and teacher.

I just wanted to let you know that I am doing well and that I am still playing trumpet. This fall is my first semester at HSU and I plan to get my degree in music performance. I auditioned for the jazz combos course and for the top jazz band and got into both!!!! I wanted to thank you for the great lessons you gave me that helped me get into these bands. I have been using those thompson exercises you gave me faithfully and I feel a lot more comfortable on my new mouthpiece you sold me. I will keep you updated with my schooling and playing!

I just wanted to thank you so much for all the help and support that you've given me with my audition piece.
I just got the results today, and I was one of the 2 trumpet players out of 14 to move up to the higher band.
cannot express my thanks enough, because I'm positive that without your guidance, I wouldn't have done nearly as well as I did in my audition.
So once again, thank you very, very much.

but this was a great reminder of things that I'd forgotten. Its cleared up a lot of problems in my piccolo playing!"

I got a stand-up from Dan and knew that I did well.   Lots of people from the chorus congratulated me and while I was packing up even more people from the audience came up to thank/congratulate me.    This was all a big ego trip for me.  My best effort yet and I have you to thank for my journey over the past several years.    Thanks,   Harry

Ian is so happy to have you as his trumpet teacher... it's great that he finally finds a music teacher he gets along and enjoys. I never have to force him to practice trumpet once yet.

Thanks for the work you did with me yesterday. I really needed to take a step back and get back to basics. I like the idea of not worrying about breaking a habit, but learning how to deal with it better. Thanks also for sending me the revised practice list.

Hi Pete,

I have been studying your August Newsletter and found it to be very informative. I want to take a moment to congratulate you on your work. I have not come across any music teacher during my long “career” of learning a musical instrument who has been as diligent and meticulous as you are. You truly have the progress of your students at heart. I am very happy to be a student of yours and it gives me great pleasure to learn to play the trumpet under your direction.

Kind regards,

William Ewald.

Hi Pete - Just want to thank you for a great Jazz Improvisation class! I have enough to practice to keep me busy for a long time -- and I really learned "a lot" (I tell my students never to use those words!) You are a great teacher; I like how organized you are.

I have been buzzing the leadpipe instead of buzzing the mouthpiece as an initial part of my warm-up for ten times at fifteen seconds each and my embouchure seems to be responding much more favorably than before. I am experiencing a much better air stream, control and fluency on the instrument as a result and not to mention the power of the double-high C range! Thanks again, Pete, you are a real credit to your profession!

I have had the opportunity to study with many fine teachers over the years, while at the University of Michigan and also in California. Of all the teachers I have ever had the privilege to study with, Mr. Estabrook is certainly one of the most gifted and dedicated. My experience in studying with him has been comparable with the best of the instruction I received at Michigan. I would certainly recommend Mr. Estabrook as an extremely qualified teacher through all college levels.
