Practice
Routine:
- Homework assignments are issued based
on student level and musical goals.
- If fundamentals are in place, and if
theory knowledge is sufficient, the program may include
jazz material (based on instructor assessment of student
ability).
- 30-45 min. daily is a minimum guide
for daily practice for students enrolled in private
lessons (specifics are listed here).
A generic practice grid (without jazz
included) is shown here (specific student
assignments vary from week to week).
Lessons:
- Performance of prepared weekly musical
assignments as outlined verbally or in written form by
the instructor
- Discussion and evaluation of student
performance
- Demonstrations by the instructor
- New assignments are given based on
student goals and demonstrated ability

Method:
- means whereby (method for dealing with
action as it relates to the individual as a whole)
- inhibition (stopping of the habitual)
- direction (replacement of the habitual
with new suggestions)
- indirect procedures (self guiding in a
manner that issues are dealt with not as individual
problems or parts, but as they function in relation to
the whole)
